Mr. Samuel Wakene

As-Salaamu Alaikum,

My parents immigrated to the States from Ethiopia just years before I was born, allowing me the opportunity to call Greensboro my lifelong home. Living and growing in this community has struck a passion in me for educating and preparing the next generation for success in this Dunya as well as in the Akhirah. I hold a Bachelor of Science in Sustainable Systems, which has equipped me with strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills. I am committed to using my background in childcare to integrate sustainable principles into the classroom and foster environmentally conscious young learners.

My journey into education began when I served as a Teaching Assistant for second grade at Cone Elementary School located in Greensboro, NC. In this role, I gained hands-on experience in classroom management, lesson planning, and individualized student support, working closely with the lead teacher to create an engaging and inclusive learning environment. 

Additionally, I was a volunteer at the Islamic Center of the Triad’s summer camp program for years. There; I facilitated classroom practices, lead discussions from the lesson plan provided, while also incorporating educational and recreational activities. This experience ignited my passion for teaching, specifically at Ibn Sina Islamic Academy, and solidified my desire to contribute to students' academic and personal growth.

My unique background in sustainable systems, combined with practical educational experience, allows me to bring a fresh and impactful perspective to the classroom. I am eager to inspire and educate the next generation, helping them become thoughtful, responsible, and knowledgeable individuals.

I am looking forward to meeting and building relationships with students and parents alike as we embark on this journey together as the first class at Ibn Sina Islamic Academy, In Shaa Allah.
